Our little family of four loves acoustic indie music. The lilting melodies are so soft and sweet, just as a lullaby should be! Here are our favorite indie lullabies, some intentional and some not. Don’t forget to tell us your favorites in the comments!
- Edelweiss by Laura Gibson
Edelweiss is a favorite in our family, especially after our daughter Eloise was born. We’ve had an assortment of nicknames for her since birth, from “Liesl” (of “The Sound of Music” fame) to the odd pronunciation of “EL-oh-ice”, which turned quickly into simply calling her “Edelweiss.” This version by Laura Gibson is lovely.
2. Rainbow Connection by Trespassers William
The lovers, the dreamers, and me…
3. Over the Rainbow by Ingrid Michaelson
Ingrid Michaelson has one of my favorite voices in music. Her cover of Over the Rainbow is sweet and perfectly different from other versions of this song.
4. Ho Hey by The Lumineers
I belong with you, you belong with me, you’re my sweetheart…. A radio favorite, Ho Hey by the Lumineers has just the sweet repetition of a great lullaby.
5. You Are My Sunshine by Elizabeth Mitchell
Elizabeth Mitchell is a popular children’s singer and her version of the classic You Are My Sunshine is a favorite of ours!
